This qualification reflects the role of people with responsibility for the development and the outcomes of programs and services for young people managed through a range of agencies and designed to meet the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people. This work may be undertaken through employment in community, government and welfare agencies.

Youth Work Job Prospects:
The Youth Work and Community Services Industry is an extremely high-growth sector, which is expected, according to the Australian Government Job Outlook website (joboutlook.gov.au), to require an additional 50,000 staff by the year 2023. The Youth Work sector is highly attractive with such a fast-growing industry and very high job prospects.
Entry Requirements
We recommend you have language, literacy, and numeracy skills sufficient to allow you to interpret documents and prepare written reports in order to complete the CHC50413 Diploma of Youth Work.
You need access to an internet-connected computer for the duration of the course.
If you intend to apply for a Loan or Funding option (where available) to pay for your tuition fees, additional entry criteria may apply as detailed in the Pricing Options.
While it is not an entry requirement for the course, you must undergo a police check to work in the industry and obtain a Blue Card if working with children under 18. We recommend you do this before you enrol.
Practical Placement
To be assessed as competent in the CHC50413 Diploma of Youth Work, you must complete 100 hours of supervised work placements in relevant community service settings such as a youth-based organisation. Evidence provided by your supervisor will contribute to the assessment of your ability to work at this level. It is your responsibility to locate placements however the College will assist where possible.
Duration
This course is scheduled to be completed in up to 52 weeks, depending on the learner’s relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

- 17 core units
- 4 elective units, of which:
- at least 1 must be selected from Practice elective units
